Book signings and meeting with readers have always been anxiety-inducing to me. As someone who's busy with graduate studies and work duties, I would always decline events and my introvert self would exhale out of relief. I did a few and I could count them all on my fingers. Still, the feelings of uneasiness, fear and concern are always there. Before any book signing event, my hands would shake, my heart would beat too fast and loud to the point that I couldn't breathe properly anymore, and my mind would just go blank. Being in that kind of environment stresses me out but the warmth, precious smiles and sincere messages of the readers would also always overcome these negative feelings.
It felt like that, too, during this MIBF. Since our schedule was quite late and it was raining pretty hard, I was worried whether there would be readers who would risk to be there to see us. But that worry immediately dissipated when I was welcomed with the smile on their faces and books on their hands.
To my readers, I may not be that expressive in person but I really treasure the moments I spent with you. You are my sanctuary. My safe haven. So thank you for allowing me to stay by your side.
'Til next time,
